Francis Marion Chapter Wins top Honors in 2011

State Regent Maguerite Horton presided at the Alabama State Daughters of the American Revolution Awards Luncheon in the Ballroom of the Auburn Convention Center. Francis Marion Chapter gathered its share of honors among 65 ASDAR Chapters. President General NSDAR Merry Ann Thompson Wright was present and assisted with National Awards.

Francis Marion Chapter was presented with a First Place National Award:
Best Web Site, designed and maintained by Amanda Gunn.

Other Awards include:
  • Volunteer Information Specialist Volunteer of the Year - Amanda Rasco Gunn.
  • Outstanding computer usage to Francis Marion Chapter.
  • Women's Issues Award called Essay Spirit Award by Geri Ellzey Craig for "Hubble and Parkinson." American Heritage Committee presented award to Geri Ellzey Craig in Literature and Drama for Short Story, "Cloth Napkins."
  • NSDAR Conservation Medal to Mike Jenkins V on Green House Gas Reduction, Chairman Wynn Harris, Regent Geri Craig
  • Chapter with most new members awarded to Registrar Ruby Hassell.
  • Outstanding Individuals who made outstanding contributions to membership also to Ruby Hassell, Registrar.
  • Best Program Yearbook #25 out of 65 chapters. Amanda Gunn Yearobook Chairman.
  • Top five best programs was Lexie Turnipseed and her presentation of Betsy Ross and "A Stich in Time." For original content narrative and costume.
  • The Francis Marion Chapter was awarded for State Standard of Excellence, and the State Regents Project as Outstanding Support.
