A very surprised Mrs. Sieu Tang Wood was given the Francis Marion Chapter NSDAR Community Service Award at the May 2011 chapter luncheon. Community Service Committee Chairman, Mrs. Jean Kloess presented the award and read excerpts from various letters of recommendations concerning Mrs. Wood's contributions.
Former Alabama First Lady Patsy Riley wrote of Mrs. Wood's help with Kid One Transport; Rick Heinzman with MACOA (Montgomery Area Council on Aging) wrote about her starting and her continual involvement in the annual Internationa Tasting Event to raise monies for Meals on Wheels and Mrs. Sherry Nath wrote concerning Mrs. Wood's involvement in raising monies for the American Cancer Society.
The DAR Community Service Award recognizes worthy citizens for voluntary service in the community.
