Medal Winner speaks on Conservation

Mike Jenkins V from the Montgomery based Jenkins Brick Company spoke at the February Francis Marion Chapter meeting. Mr. Jenkins explained the process behind his company's use of landfill gas at it's local plants. This technique for powering the plant has an annual greenhouse gas reduction equivalent to planting 45,600 acres of forests, removing the emissions of 31,900 vehicles or preventing the consumption of 387,450 barrels of oil.
Last May Mr. Jenkins was awarded the DAR National Medal for Conservation for his use of new technology to help the environment. Here he is pictured with Conservation chairman for Francis Marion Chapter Mrs. Wynn Harris.
